Viilu. Industrialized wooden architectural modules

Awarded project in the competition Actúa UPM

February 2014

In progress

Spaces that adopt different configurations depending on the initial user necessities and program requirements (housing, office, equipment, tertiary ...) could be obtained from the union of the three-dimensional modules. Once constructed the initial solution, the space can grow as family, working or social relationships of the user are modified by attaching one or more other modules, which will immediately become part of the original space.

The proposal includes the design, construction, implementation in place, periodic review and maintenance, the realization of possible extensions after the acquisition date, and removal and recovery of modules once they are not necessary. This leads to a system of long-term rental, in which a continuous product liability and executable warranty is generated throughout the life process of the built object.

The project was awarded in the competition Actúa UPM, which aims to encourage innovation in the university community and support the creation of differentiating initiatives. The proposal has passed to the final stage of the competition that will be completed in October 2014.
